The Platypus 3D Measurement System was developed in co-operation with Spencer Krause and Associates, by request of Platypus LLC.
In early 2017, I was brought into the development team of the Platypus Winch System to solve critical weight management and electrical issues.
The Platypus 3D Measurement System consists of a winch and a sensor pod. The winch mounts to a robotic boat and raises and lowers the sensor pod to a set depth at a set speed according to serial input and prevents the line from tangling. The airtight sensor pod logs temperature, depth, salinity, and dissolved oxygen to create a three dimensional map of different variables in an open body of water.
